My day started off with getting hit on.
Dude asked me to be his girlfriend, when I said I was already taken he offered to thumb-wrestle the boyfriend for me.
Um, no.
And then my day ended with a high five from a really excited patron cause I helped her find books at 5:59 PM.
We close at 6.
Awkward transactions all around, but I have tomorrow and Friday off so I'm stoked.
After working all day I headed out to see the boyfriend. We went to supper with his parents and then watched some - keyword some - Mystery Science Theater the Movie cause he fell asleep.
To be fair he works nights and stayed up all day so he could sleep tonight and act like a normal person tomorrow.
Which is sweet really since he's coming to my family's Thanksgiving.
Originally Thanksgiving was gonna be at Second Sister's but due to natural disasters we're moving it to Oldest Sister's.
Got Apples to Apples and other random board games in my trunk. Gonna rock.
Need to remember to stop and get a paper on the way there so we have ads to look through as is tradition.
That's all I got for today. Gonna crash.
Music: I sang At Last and Radioactive all day long. Seriously repeatedly driving me nuts. Random combination I'm aware, but it's my fault cause I bought them both - well, the Will Champlin versions.
Soo let's go with something else so that they can get out of my head
I Still Believe in You - Cole Vosbury
took me days to figure out that was a vince gill song. drove me nuts.
he's crazy good. cole not vince. never really been a fan of vince, is that just me?
legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.
I could write a blog. I have thoughts.
Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

If I were you I'd take a permanent vacation
Queen of the Known Universe said bad things happen in threes. She lied.
Quote of the day: "And did he take your library card?"
Today was one of those days. Got glared at three times and yelled at once. By the third glare I just asked if they wanted to speak with my supervisor right away, instead of waiting for them to ramble and rant at me. After the first I was like hyper aware of all the patrons - there was no autopilot answers. I was waiting for something else to happen. And then it did. Thankfully all my supervisors are wonderful so it was okay. At least I spread the love around and didn't get the same supervisor the whole day. The Koha Queen and I joked about getting walkie talkies between the front desk and her desk downstairs. I would totally use it all the time, she's probably sick of me flailing downstairs yelling, "Do you have a second?" But she is also the queen of patience - which is why she is in charge of the transition. Then Superwoman who is always helpful and Girlscout who remains professional the whole time and adds in humor as well. And the fourth and final transaction was just me. Maybe that's why there was yelling and not glaring.
I'm remaining positive.
I love my job. And I love public libraries because of the variety of people and material. So, the yelling and the glaring I'm okay with. Sort of. It's never boring. I'll give you that.
But I've learned to keep my head down and not do anything stupid. Really my only rebellions nowadays are my mis-matched socks and this blog. Even Oldest Sister doesn't believe I can skateboard. I probably can't anymore. I'm all like different and stuff. Will have to grab it next time I go to the farmhouse and bring it back with me. I'll have actual pavement to ride on this time - the beauty about the farmhouse is that it's in the middle of nowhere so you've got the stars and the peace and all that - the one thing missing is concrete. Or cement, sorry Bones. You get like one slab which is fun to ride your bike/skateboard around on but after about an hour you get tired of riding in circles and try to branch out to the gravel. Not as smart.
Started season one of Chuck over at Oldest Sister's house. It's not all that bad - I'm actually thinking about putting a hold on the second season already and I'm mid-NCIS so that's kind of a big deal. It's basically this geek - sorry, nerd - nerd sees stuff he's not supposed to see so the government is all over him and they have to stop this bomb from going off and all that. I'm only one episode in so that's basically all of the storyline I have so far. But he lives with his sister and captain Awesome who says everything is Awesome and then he has this nerdy best friend who clearly has a thing for his sister - Chuck's sister, not like his his sister - and so he has to keep this whole stuff secret from them and all that - plus there's the female CIA agent who's watching out for him and then another dude who was battling for custody. It's a long story. But it's seriously a 9/10 on the Scale of Awesome so you should check it out. Perhaps I will review it properly tomorrow when I'm not as scatter-brained.
"My Boyfriend's Back" The Angels
check out that syncronized snapping and clapping - very impressive 1:40-1:41 I just crack up.
"It's My Party" Lesley Gore
she seems to be doing more dancing than crying
or check out Amy Winehouse's version of it:

Think I'm gonna crash and burn. Maybe watch some more of the first disc on the way there.

yeah, i got nothing...
quick post since i plan to have a social life tonight - i know, shocker!
today was great, i actually got to work at both libraries and hang out with my superwoman boss. only a few 'magnet moments' which of course grandma (25 year old coworker) gave me crap for. she calls me a magnet cause i attract an interesting crowd. we'll go with that. "magnet, magnet, magnet..." yeah whatever, today was fun. i joked around with a patron who i've been growing closer to lately we're thinking of joining him for some karaoke. i love karaoke. it's a delayed...reaction specialty. i'll have to upload more of those videos later.
i ran up and down stairs at least 6 times all within like 15 minutes so major workout. feeling excited for tonight, burgers and glee with a friend, woohoo! there will probably be some drinking as well, should be fun.
aaaannd she's here, i'm out!

The third shifts a charm.
Cause I'm crazy. And went in three times - not the first time it's happened and most likely not the last - because I'm crazy. And I love it. Even when it's slow, I still love it. Cause I'm crazy.
Time: 9:32 PM
Location: Couch - one of these times I'm gonna say floor just to throw you off
Music: RED on in background, he just went into the Russian embassy
Attitude: Amused
Current work score: 116 woohoo 3 more points!
Anyway, today was just a rollercoaster. Went in this morning and since my boss is still sick and the Queen of Awesome (QofA for short) had to leave early I covered cause it's what I do. I went in 9-12 1-4 and 6-8 and each time we had maybe like ten patrons total. Totally slow day, until like 7:15 when this lady comes in and I helped her with stuff on the computer. Oh man. She was hysterical. So, I have a lot of favorite patrons, 2 main ones - 1 I talk to every day the other I see at both branches now - but tonight I think I met future me. She kind of reminds me of members of my family except she talks faster and louder and swears a lot, so basically me in the future. But I helped her with stuff and then she was talking very loudly and I'm pretty sure everyone in the library heard the whole conversation and when she left Space Cadet and I were talking. I was like, "That'll be me in 40 years." So Space Cadet was like, "but you'll use your inside voice...unless you're too deaf to hear it." She says that my hearing at 35 will be her hearing at 70 since I blast music in my headphones. Apparently that's bad for your ears. Who knew?
So today was Groundhog day. I had no idea. I don't really know much about it so I asked the Queen of Awesome and apparently the research she did for me crushed her hopes and dreams. I don't want to crush anyone else's but oh well, apparently, the groundhog can't see anything, it's actually a committee of 14 people who decide the answer. Sorry, QofA you're still the QofA. My only question now is do you think those 14 people are like weather people or psychics? I asked Space Cadet if they ever got it right she was like, "well they have a fifty percent chance!"
The upside to things being slow meant that I had time to think about my project due Saturday. Which, now that I have plans for Friday, means that I have to get it all done tomorrow. Not a big deal, just draw and paste pictures then ramble for a page. I think I can handle it. I'm actually kind of excited, we're supposed to do a visual representation of information literacy and I'm doing something with wheel of fortune. I think, anyway. Unless I come up with something better between now and tomorrow afternoon.
Now I'm starving and freezing. Food first, then blankets.
EDIT - Quote of the day comes from my sister
"I dialed you with my lip."
confused? me too...
