I know, I didn't post last night, but I was at the farmhouse and the internet was all wonky.
It made working on a homework assignment and then uploading it quite the adventure. BUT it's done and submitted so I'm down to 3 left total. That includes collection development and program summaries for Youth Services and then my final progress report for practicum. With only 3 days left of that as well.
It's flying by.
Which after 3 years is a good thing cause I'm ready to be done.
This weekend was nice. Had the whole one off so I went out to the farm to hang out with the 'rents.
We watched the Huskers lose - not that I didn't know it was coming but it was still a sad day - and some SNL, Big Bang Theory, and Major Crimes.
Oh and the state volleyball tournament cause our neighboring town made it to the finals. Lost, but second isn't bad when you've played like 30 teams.
Was a good break from reality to get out of here for a while. Dad says I should quit the library and move home.
You know, after I get my Master's in it and everything.
He says I should move home and farm.
Joy.
I'll pass on that. As much as the library has its moments where I do want to run run far far away, it doesn't make me want to run run far far away to the early mornings and late nights that farmers abide by. Even though I did grow up doing that in the summers.
It was suckish but my brother made it livable. With his singing and screaming obscenities there were moments that were highly entertaining. But nothing I want to do full time.
Tomorrow it's back at work - actually all week - but next week I have 3 days off so I'll manage. Plus this weekend is the weekend I'm taking my teens to see Catching Fire. They're stoked. I'm nervous I'm forgetting something. I'll have to go supply shopping at some point this week.
And we're seeing Elton John.
Oh, and speaking of concerts, so the boyfriend has decided that we're going to Reno to see Powerman 5000 in February.
Like he mentioned it before going to work and then when I woke up the next morning he had it all planned out and booked the trip right after I left for work.
So that should be fun.
I told him he was in charge of planning since I drug him all around Vegas. My only requirement is that he takes me someplace nice for dinner.
Watch, that will be my doom. We'll spend Reno at train stations or museums.
We're gonna have a train wedding I swear.
His brother joked about him owning enough motorcars that we could get married somewhere along the tracks and the wedding party could ride in on the cars.
Anyway, Reno should be fun. I know nothing about it so I should do some research on that, see if there's anything else gonna be there when we're there.
Yes, I know you don't know who Powerman 5000 is, but he loves them.
Heavy Metal from the 90's.
Here:
When Worlds Collide
you may actually know that one, or the refrain at least. it's the only one i know so i'm gonna have to work on that as well.
He saw them live once before and said they were really good.
I'm excited, it'll be fun.
Alright, I'm out for the night. Hope you had a good weekend.
Legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.
I could write a blog. I have thoughts.
Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

Maybe if I act like that, flippin' my blonde hair back...
Ah the weekend. It flew by too quickly as usual. But at least it was a good one.
Saturday was zen-fest. Slept in, did a bit of homework before heading out to the farmhouse to watch the Husker game.
Holy crap man.
If you don't know what happened you should watch this highlight reel. It pretty much sums it up.
Madness, the zen stopped there.
Which was good cause then it was off to my cousin's wedding reception. Total rustic approach it was awesome. I jammed out with Homey-G-Wigger and Obi-Wan plus the Mentor came and joined our table and then my brother, his wife and family made an appearance. We hid out in the corner and talked for a while. Didn't really dance but did take quite a few pictures to send to my chair-ridden mother.
It was fun. I liked the whole laid back approach when we get married - if he ever proposes - that's what I want. No pressure and open bar. We got drink tickets. Obi-Wan actually went and stole us extra ones when we ran out.
Don't worry I was driving so I only had 2.
Amaretto sours, they're good stuff.
After the reception I headed to the farmhouse where Mom and I watched SNL.
Well, I watched SNL, she bailed on me for sleep.
SNL was actually funny this weekend. Eminem - who I love - performed and then of course Kerry Washington - who I also love - hosted.
These were my favorites.
What Does My Girl Say - Ylvis parody
better than the original. mostly cause i hate the original but i would buy this on iTunes.
Ain't no lady baby.
Respect my ability to assess a bucket.
I want a sound machine to follow me around.
How's He Doing?
He does not.
I love Keenan trying to keep a straight face. I would have died.
My new tradition whilst at the farm is to fall asleep watching episodes of MXC on Hulu. Did you know they have all the episodes available? It's love it.
Please tell me you know what MXC is. If you don't you are severely culture deprived and should now go and watch it on Hulu.com
It's basically the original Wipeout. Americans took the Japanese game show Takeshi's Castle and dubbed it in English. It's clearly not what they're actually saying which makes it even funnier.
Would have been nice to get that extra hour of sleep but instead I woke up to Mom yelling that I needed to ride with my brother in the semi to get the pickup and bring it home.
Hopped in the semi, drank my coffee and ate my cereal. Huzzah.
Song of the Day: Driving my mom's car this week while my headlight gets fixed so it's back to XM radio and Songs You Know But Forgot You Knew Them
Stupid Girls - Pink
totally forgot about this one, back in the good ole days. jammed out to this one on the way back.
out. legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

Then it was church, stopped by the VFW and got meals to go for lunch, I finished my paper, submitted it and then stopped by to see the boyfriend now that he's back from yet another motorcar adventure.
Now I'm back and Carter and I are wiped. Gonna crash.

Thank you, I saw it in the window and I just couldn't resist it.
Ah, the joys of the farmhouse.
Just watched the top 30 funniest moments in TV history with Mom.
This one was my favorite even though it didn't make number one.
DEAD!
Though this clip is the reason I watched the show in the first place.
Awesome.
I didn't have much to say yesterday so I didn't post.
Worked 'til 6. Queen of the Known Universe and I were tied to the hip, which is actually kind of fun as she is pretty much my best friend at the work branch now.
If she leaves me for a boy too then I'm screwed.
Went home to pack then headed to the farm to watch the Husker game.
Good god, what happened?!
I mean, I'm glad we won, but what happened?
Sportscasters were saying we're supposed to win by 30 and we win by 3?
I was shocked that Bo wasn't mad in that exit interview.
But you know, it's a new season and we have a lot of people fighting for spots so they had to try them each out to see who plays the best in game situations.
Still, they almost came back and won it. That would have been bad.
Anyway, after that I went to bed semi-early for me. Fell asleep on the couch watching SNL and woke up at 7 when Mom walked past and went "what the?"
Woops.
Went back to bed, in my actual bed, 'til 9:30, went to church and then the fun began.
More camp stuff - huzzah! Went through 2 cameras with 1500 pictures and lowered them down to just 400.
Last year we included like 700 but this year there were a lot of doubles, blurry ones and people facing in the other direction so you couldn't see who they were.
Oh, for those of you who don't know, for the camp I direct we send out picture CD's every year.
We're a bit late this year, but at least they're out.
And posted to Facebook. With 150 viewers in less than an hour.
Take that everyone who says we're doing it wrong!
Well, person who says we're doing it wrong.
Well, person who says I'm doing it wrong.
Along with the CD goes a letter that thanks people and asks for feedback.
I'm sure I'll get one blasting everything I did. Read my camp highlights and you'll understand: Now Rhonda Has No Honda
But I'm past it. She can say all she wants. And I don't care because the rest of the crew is on my side.
And we have fun together. Like today, ordered pizza, joked around for a couple hours before finally completing our master CD's.
Then made plans for tomorrow.
Cause guess what tomorrow is?!
Church softball tournament.
We're gonna rock it.
We play Plymouth in the morning then a combo team after that, then break for lunch, then play Plymouth again in the afternoon.
Cause it's a rivalry. They beat us earlier this month, but this time it's on our turf. And we won it last year.
Go here: Unhook the Plow
So I'm off to bed cause I want to be all rested up for tomorrow.
Last year I stayed up 'til 4ish the night before, can't do that again.
Meeting up at 9:30 for our game at 10. Talked one of my old play kids to join the fun. And she's good so she'll dominate.
I'll attempt not to break open my leg again but I can't make any promises.

Cemetery Rule #1: Don't drive over the graves.
"Is that really on the rule sign?"
"No."
Had some fun with the family today at the farmhouse and in G-Town.
Actually woke up a whole 2 hours before church - when does that ever happen?
Anyway, my aunt and uncle were out for this alumni banquet that the high school does every year and they stayed over.
Highly entertaining as always, I woke up to them laughing and making fun of my father.
Turns out, I didn't know very much about my dad as a kid.
I mean, I knew he was a prankster, but not this bad.
For legal reasons I won't share with you a majority of the stories - have I mentioned the "Kilowatt Kids" thing? - but a few are safe to share.
So apparently my family - more specifically my father - has a way of sending couples who've just gotten married off in style.
Perhaps some of you have experienced tampering with your cars - things painted on the windows, beer cans dangling from your bumper, etc.
Or is that just a hick thing?
Dad brought it up a level.
For one aunt and uncle he locked the car in low gear spilling oil all over the place. They finally make it home all frantic and Grandpa takes one look and says "go get your car they're taking it on their honeymoon."
So they got to take dad's brand new car on their honeymoon.
Karma.
For another aunt and uncle - okay we have this bell.
In the backyard.
Basically, my grandparents when they moved out here bought a schoolhouse and renovated it and moved it and all that and it came with a bell.
That my dad now has mounted in the backyard.
He took out the backseat of my uncle's car and put in the bell.
And since it was so heavy and they couldn't lift it out they took it with them on their honeymoon.
Another aunt and uncle came out to their car with their front seats missing. In their place were 2 buckets.
So they got to ride in "bucket seats".
Then - the ultimate prank - for yet another uncle and aunt - this uncle knows about my dad's history with pranks and decides to take precautions.
He hides his car in a storage unit and doesn't tell anyone where it's at.
Somehow Dad finds out. Since the unit is locked they get into the one next to it and he climbs over the top of the wall.
Instead of doing anything to the car all he does is lift the hood.
Making it look like he did something.
And to prove that he could, really.
So my uncle spent hours trying to figure out what Dad did when really he did nothing.
And the funniest part is that Mom is like completely the opposite of him in that way.
Which now explains a few of my childhood moments.
Like the time I climbed all the way to the top of the quonset cause the snow was that high. While Mom was freaking out and yelling for me to get down Dad went to get the camera.
The aunt that was here is afraid of birds so I told her my bird story. Go here: http://ckmylifeinclosedcaptions.blogspot.com/2012/06/freakin-birds.html
At church we met up with yet another uncle - yes I have lots but no Dad didn't mess up his car at his wedding.
As opposed to the aunt and uncle who stayed over, they were the engine in low gear one.
All-in-all it was a good day. After dinner we hit up the cemetery, which I always spell with an a, woops, fix that.
Then I took a nap - woohoo- watched a lot of Big Bang Theory and helped Mom more with Facebook. She put up pictures from the reunion. Took us a couple hours cause there were so many.
Though I can't exactly comment on that cause I have like 50 albums, all of them having close to a hundred photos in them.
What can I say? I am my mother's daughter.
Think I'm gonna watch some BBT online if it's up on Hulu.
Have a good holiday weekend.

'til Johnny's dancing with me I've got no reason to smile...
Big day in G-Town man, big day.
First up was driving a pickup to the tire shop as it had a flat, and I followed mom who was also driving a pickup to the tire shop cause it had a flat...and this was after my dad had dropped off my car at the tire shop cause it had a flat...they loved us today.
Then it was the big easter egg hunt at the courthouse which apparently I used to go to but have absolutely no memory of it. I guess my brother took me around, he was the popular one in school so everyone just knew me as Mark's baby sister.
Yeah, that's one of my favorite stories about my brother, he could have been valedictorian but he chose not to because he wanted to have a social life.
All my siblings are super smart and then there's me.
Not that I'm completely incompetent I am a librarian. And got a couple 4.0's in college so I manage.
Anyway, this morning it was all about candy at the courthouse. They divide the age groups up and we had one in each cause Abbers was in the youngest which is like toddler to 3, then you got Booge's group which was 4-6, and then Claire was the oldest in the 7-to I'm guessing like 10, anybody older than that would dominate.
I went with Booge and actually he did dominate, he had excellent strategy though I don't know if he realized it. Basically he's super fast so he ran out in front of all the kids and got there first and then grabbed and ran, like it was the run and scoop method, genius. He dominated. And the girls did pretty well themselves. Plus they got these prize ticket things for businesses around G-Town, they cleaned up man.
I'd call it a victory.
After that Mom and I came back to the house to help the "easter bunny" with candy stuff.
While we attempted to watch "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" but failed as we were too distracted.
It was alright.
Not fantastic.
I feel like I should go back and watch it more closely because it was SOOO HARD to follow, too many characters I think. I should probably read the book then maybe I'd get it.
Anyway, so I should go back and watch it again but I really have no motivation to. Even though I do love Gary Oldman and Colin Firth, I think they're fantastic, and maybe it is a fantastic movie but I was too distracted to pay attention.
Scale of Awesome at the moment says 4/10 but that's only because I missed half of it cause I was stuffing eggs.
Plus I had to show Mark the Darth Maul commercials posted a few posts below this one and we were watching it on the TV with no remote for the DVD player - which is obnoxious but it's been that way for years now. And the sad part is that we have a universal remote so we could program it, but that'd be too easy you know?
Anyway, yes there are going to be a lot of "anyway"s in this post I think this is my third, get used to it.
Anyway, four, he thought they were funny, which they are, plus I gave him his shirt. I found this Darth Vader shirt at Target that has a picture of Vader and then the phrase "Who's Your Daddy", super funny.
After that candy craze, which mom hid cause she knew that Mark would steal it - he did unsuccessfully try this afternoon but failed epically, I had to throw him some and it was funny cause he was trying to be subtle about it. HA!
Anyway, five, after the candy craze I watched some Swamp People with dad, cause apparently a weekend at the farmhouse isn't complete without watching an episode of Swamp People at least once a day. Which is good, I find it highly enjoyable. Looking forward to next week's and see I'd tape them on my own, but then what would I watch when I came out to the farmhouse?
Really, Swamp People is just saving me from marathon's of HeeHaw. Which I'm sure I'll get tomorrow night before I leave. He usually has ones cued up for me to see.
ANNND after all that I cleaned out my closet.
One of them.
Sort of.
I mean, I went through everything but it's all memorabilia stuff so it's not trash-able. So it'll stay in boxes for now and eventually get moved to my apartment.
So I guess you could say it was more like taking stock rather than cleaning out.
I took stock of all my crap.
And I only got through one of the two closets in my room.
I mean, technically it's one big one they're connected but it's two doors, whatever, anyway six, I found stuff from high school and college and all that and in it was one seriously seriously depressing poem that I don't remember writing at all, and it like threw me off. Cause I was so excited to find all this stuff, especially the stuff I forgot about and then I pull this out and it was like, dude, WTF?
Here.
Read.
And then forget it cause it's highly depressing and like I said I totally forgot about writing it, no idea when I did, but it's in my hand-writing so I guess it was me.
When you smile at me my heart skips a beat.
When you talk to me it starts to pound.
When you're close to me I can hear it in my head.
When you kiss me it leaps into my throat.
When you told me you loved me my knees buckled.
When you're not around I drag my feet.
When we bicker and fight I cannot breathe.
When you told me you're leaving I ended my life.
When you came back for me I was already gone.
When you cried for me I couldn't hear it.
When you threw things for me I couldn't see it.
When you ended your life I saw you again briefly, but just for a second before they took you away.
Why oh why do you do this to me?
and there's that. like i said highly depressing and morbid and just blah.
so forget about it.
cause i'm still reeling and just weirded out that i don't even remember writing it. or who i was writing about. which is weird. cause i'm a writer and it's semi-memorable i would say.
or maybe because it's highly depressing i blocked it out, whatever moving on!
I finally watched the elimination rounds on the Voice and if you don't want to be spoiled - though it was from Tuesday - then don't read.
Stoked that Jordis got saved, though was shocked when she was initially not picked as they said she topped the rock charts and was the first artist to do so on The Voice.
Seriously just excited, and kind of shocked by a lot of the choices, but stoked as they were all my favorites and the ones I downloaded off itunes.
Alright, songs of the day:
"It's My Party" Lesley Gore
i just love her voice, it's so unique. and that's the only way i can describe it.
and its sequel
"Judy's Turn To Cry" Lesley Gore
and you took him back? after that? really?
First up was driving a pickup to the tire shop as it had a flat, and I followed mom who was also driving a pickup to the tire shop cause it had a flat...and this was after my dad had dropped off my car at the tire shop cause it had a flat...they loved us today.

"Judy's Turn To Cry" Lesley Gore
and you took him back? after that? really?

Treading trodden trails for a long long time
Called in sick, spent the day on the couch.
Couldn't even stand up this morning, was all light-headed, burning up and just dead.
Second Sister says that it must be serious as I never call in even if I am sick. Even Mom was worried.
But I figured Superwoman would take away points if I crashed at the public service desk.
Called Girlscout and she took care of it, then took my temperature and ended up with 100.1 - probably best I called in.
No idea where it came from.
Hope it's not the flu. Then Glee-Loving Boss will give me even more crap about that flu shot thing. I told him I'd rather get the flu than the shot. Probably shot myself in the foot with that.
So it was a lazy day, the only semi-productive things I did all day were open the door for the repairman who came to fix my water heater - I've been living on cold showers, not cool in winter - and talked to my sister-in-law on the phone about a Christmas present thing.
The rest of the day I slept, didn't even turn on the TV until the repair guy got here. Figured it would be awkward if I was sleeping while he was here.
Now I'm up again. Figured I should eat something. Chicken noodle it is. Though I don't have much of an appetite.
And my cat isn't even here to keep me company, he's living it up at the farm. He stayed there since I'm just going back out again this weekend and packing him up and driving him back didn't seem all that appealing since I would just be taking him back again in a few days. Plus he likes it there. As long as he doesn't go outside and have to deal with the gangwar between the North Side and South Side cats.
Anyway, of all the days to be sick, I actually had plans tonight.
Shocking, I know.
But it's true.
I'm headed back to bed after the soup, should be back to at least 90% by tomorrow.
If not I'll probably go anyway.
Coach Otte, our high school assistant basketball coach, used to say "It's all mental."
I used to hate it when he said that.
Seriously.
We all did.
Now I live by it.
I'm a workaholic and love my job. Get used to it.
Alright, a music rec and I'm out.
"So Much to Say" Dave Matthews Band
stuck in my head.
no idea where that came from either.
and now i'm singing jimmy fallon. dangit sarah, i blame you.
must turn on movie or something to get music out of head.

and a totally insufficient dowry
Alright, the episode count is on.
Mom and I are watching Castle Season Three. How many episodes until she falls asleep in her chair?
So, apparently there's a gang war going on at the farmhouse.
Between the North and the South Cats.
Aka the ones that stay on the North Side of the house on the deck and the South Side ones that sleep in the window wells in the front.
The North Side ones are more vicious so Mom gave the leftovers to the South Side ones. "Here South Cats! Here South Cats!" Gotta give them something, Carter is probably staring them down at the moment - the window wells look straight into the basement where he's living it up.
He was good today, didn't chew on the Christmas trees at all. I was proud. Yeah, why do cats decide to chew on green things? They just throw them up later! I don't get it.
Alright, we're on the second episode and she's still doing sudoku's.
Oh, might have spoke too soon. No wait, she moved. Back to sodoku's.
It was an excellent Christmas. Opened some presents, went to church, ate some good food, played some pitch, watched some more Red Green, took a nap, ate some more good food, now Mom and I are watching Castle.
"And now it's back with a vengeance, course it brought along its friends high maintenance and shopaholic." I love Castle.
Alright, it's that time. Made it down to the last day which means it's time for the best Christmas song of all time.
Christmas Music that Doesn't Suck: Day Twelve
The Twelve Days of Christmas
and since it's the best song ever I'll give you my favorite versions.
Indian 12 Days of Christmas by boymongoose
and a totally insufficient dowry
Mashup version by Straight No Chaser
I blame this new found fascination on Sensei. Thanks for that by the way.
Rock version by Relient K
I jam to this often no matter the season
Redneck Christmas by Jeff Foxworthy
classic
and my personal favorite
Janice Dickinson's modeling version
choose this one, seriously it's fantastic. i love 1:03. that's my favorite.
Okay, but see, the problem with listening to this many versions is trying to remember the actual words.
Whenever I attempt to sing it it comes out a little like this.
12 Pack of Bud
11 Charges pending
10 Minute yoga
9 Years probation
8 Table Dancers
7-11 Workers
6 Cans of Spam
5 Flannel Shirts
4 Italian Suits
3 Former Husbands
2 Giant Breasts
and a totally insufficient dowry.
So now the question is...what is a partridge in a pear tree? And why would you want one?
Also how exactly do an ox and lamb keep time?
Aaannd she's out. Beginning of episode three.
Which means I should go too. Hope you had a good Christmas.

well they said she died easy of a broken heart disease as i listen through the cemetary trees...
OMG patrons. This weekend was just weird. Which strangely is actually becoming quite normal.
One of the regulars went off on me about stuff and because I love my job, I just sat there and took it. I had to walk it off later but I sat there and didn't say anything. I actually had a whole reply in my head about libraries being there for people to better themselves. We're here for entertainment, we're here for research and we're also here for when you can't afford anything else. Which is true for a lot of people in that neighborhood. But, since I love my job, I smiled and walked it off.
Whatever, day's done. I'm passed it.
Now I'm watching Swamp People with Dad. Think I'm hooked. "Shoot him Lizbett!" Maybe I'll get Dad a Swamp People shirt for his birthday. I'm sure Mom would love that. Or maybe a coffee mug. He'd use that. Before this was Ice Road Truckers. Or IRT. Does it seriously need an acronym? Really? The chick trucker was pretty cool. But I still can't even think about the show without hearing Victoria's voice in my head.
go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-mYkJIcn8c
Me: "Who has that many spice bottles?"
Dad: "Mom."
Swivel Store Organizer is only 19.99. Huzzah!
Alright, commercial break is over. Joe's mad cause his stepson Tommy slept in yesterday and they're playing catchup. Troy is letting Liz (he calls her Lizbett when he's yelling at her to shoot a gator) call the shots on where they go this time. Junior and Willy are stuck in a bunch of weeds since the water level went way down. That's basically the highlights so far. and OMG! Swamp People has a blog. gotta post it. That's fantastic. http://swamp-people.blogspot.com/
"He Wasn't There" Lily Allen
one of my favorite singers and I like the album version of this song but I love this live one! fantastic. seriously. the guitar and piano are awesome.
"and everyone said you have to give him some time...and i'm glad that i gave it to him cause now everything's fine..."
"One Headlight" The Wallflowers
wrote a story based on this song but never finished. maybe i'll post that later as well. actually i think i've already posted a portion of it earlier. maybe during favorites week. i'll find it. My Life in Closed Captions: This is a week of my favorite things Day Five: Hob... there.
tomorrow is all camp all the time. so much for a day off. i'll keep you posted.
ps- yes i know i was supposed to finish the rest of the reviews on those books 9-12tonight but i dont have them with me here. will do it tomorrow night.

Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles to fall down at your door.
Gotta love Dad's TV. It's huge. But it's also filled with the most random DVR'd stuff ever. Ranges from "Body of Proof" - mom's choice since she's already taping 2 things in her room at that time - to "Hee Haw". And oh my god, don't get him started on Hee Haw. Seriously.
But I'm in here tonight since Aunt and Uncle are staying over in my room. Not a problem, I like this couch and this TV is seriously nice.
Let me scroll through my DVR options here, I already caught up on my "Body of Proof", next up:
American Pickers. Hilarious. Now if only they could come to the farm and look in Dad's old buildings. It's a good show, every once in a while I watch it. I can do without his endless metaphors though.
Then Swamp People. Oh my god. I'm still laughing.
Aunt D: "What do you think of him?"
Me: "I think he looks like my ex boyfriend."
But mine had better teeth. Same sense of humor. Can you believe people do that for a living? This episode is the "Gator Gauntlet" and there's some dude catching them alive with his bare hands.
Gonna skip past "O'Reilly Factor" ...think I'd rather watch "Swamp People". Then there's "American Restoration" "Pawn Stars" "Market to Market" ...was that "Fringe"?!?! It is! Must be one of Mom's. What's "Imus in the Morning" ? Says business/financial...SKIP! Hmmm... "Classic Tractor Fever".... hmmm... interesting title, but no. GLEE! Yay for another one of Mom's. New York episode sounds good. I'll probably konk out about halfway through anyway.
Just one tonight:
"500 Miles" The Proclaimers
aww, yay for young johnny! love 1:38. fantastic.
Alright, out for the night.
