Today...
More supplies fun.
Made up a spreadsheet so everyone knows where to find stuff.
Yes, that has become my life.
Isn't it exciting?
I feel stuck.
There's so many changes being made and I don't know what to think about them.
Am I actually happy there?
Do I want to stay?
I have the degree, should I be looking around for other jobs?
Everyone keeps telling me to.
I don't know. Maybe it's just been one of those weeks.
I'm sure it'll be fine.
I like the people, I like the patrons - well most of them - I like the location, I don't mind the hours so I guess I'm happy.
I have TAB.
They make me happy.
It just sucks that all the girls my own age bailed on me. But that's okay, I still have friends there.
In fact, the New Guy and I talked about library staff hitting up Vegas sometime for a conference.
That'd be awesome. I can see us all walking the strip, playing craps, seeing shows.
It's making me look forward to the boyfriend and I's upcoming vacation.
Going to see Pentatonix and that's about all we have planned so far.
We'll probably do some gambling, but not a lot. Last time we went there the majority of our time was spent walking the strip, and it was a lot of fun.
Though this year I'll attempt to keep everything in my pockets.
Or get one of those cheesy fanny packs.
Apparently Drew loves them, who knew?
I'm back on the Closer. Up to season two.
Remember how I'm a nerd?
Anyway, I've got that and hockey to entertain me for the next 24 hours.
Bubby's singing the national anthem at tomorrow's game. Well, his school is. It always amuses me cause the boys always look like they're in pain whenever they're forced to do anything like this in front of people.
Reminds me of my directing musicals days.
Did I mention that? Used to help out at my old grade school. We did plays every year and they were awesome. Drug my college friends out to watch them and they would always laugh because my boys always looked like they were the worst thing in the world.
But the girls and all the younger kids loved them.
And the boys had fun too, it's just day of they had to be cool.
I miss those days.
Part of the reason I'm excited that TAB's gonna start filming a web series to promote library services. Get to write and direct every month. Huzzah.
Maybe that will bring the fun back.
Let's hope so.
Alright, music and I'm out.
Who I Am - Danielle Bradbery
you cried, don't even lie.
ironic song choice for the post, i'm aware. but it was stuck in my head all day.
legit pre-midnight, holy crap tag in use.
I could write a blog. I have thoughts.
Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had.
Another season of American Ninja Warrior comes to NBC?
When was the first season?
And why?!
I know that you probably don't care, but this was epic.
And you should rejoice.
Because it's the finals, meaning after tomorrow you won't have to read my rambles on the Voice until next season!
When Xtina and Cee-Lo return!
I will miss Shakira though.
Maybe even Usher.
Okay, so here is my lineup for the last time.
Red = Adam
Green = Blake
Blue = Usher
Purple = Shakira
Artists left:
Team Blake:
Danielle Bradbery
Swon Brothers
Team Usher:
Michelle Chamuel
Both Adam and Shakira are out.
Which is interesting because they had Judith, Sarah and Sasha. Who should have won this whole thing.
Now I'm guessing Danielle is gonna win it.
I haven't checked iTunes or Facebook and I'm not even halfway through the episode yet but I know she's gonna win.
I'm rooting for her or Michelle.
If the Swon Brothers I'm gonna be pissed.
I just don't get them apparently.
But I like Danielle because she and Blake are bringing back classic country music
Timber, I'm Falling In Love
and she's got the power vocals to do it.
And I like Michelle because she's the awesome nerdy underdog.
I Knew You Were Trouble
4 Eyes on the Prize yeah man.
Okay, sorry, I missed it tonight so I'm watching it now.
Slept in, did homework, went in for two hours, headed out to see the boyfriend, got dinner, watched a movie, and now I'm back.
Smo came in today.
Was fun getting to see her again.
She met Wordie.
Smo was my high school roommate.
Well, one of them.
I was sort of a serial roommate-er I guess.
Freshman year I had....2,1,3 so 6, and then Sophomore year was just me and Smo, Junior was Smo, Shel and Juwanna and then Senior year was me and Juwanna.
So like 7 roommates.
But that's leaving out all the girls that Smo and I got stuck with Sophomore year.
Every time somebody came to visit the school or started and then stopped or whatever, they lived with us cause we were the um I guess the most school spirited ones?
Mrs. Gotta called us bubbly I believe.
Or maybe that was one of the girls she stuck with us, I can't remember.
Anyway, so it would be 7 but there were 3 others that came and went during that year alone so that makes 10.
Meaning there were only 3 female classmates I didn't room with.
The joys of a dorm high school.
Interesting because in all of college I only had 1 roommate.
Though I requested it that way.
Myers and I had a lot of fun Freshman year but after she got her own place I was good on my own.
Sketch and I decided if we lived together we'd kill each other.
Why yes, we are the best of friends.
But that's the problem.
We wanted to remain best friends.
And you don't do that when you're trapped in a room with someone every day.
Though she did steal my extra mattress frequently.
I really don't remember anything else about today.
Was nice to sleep in since I was up 'til like 4.
I enjoy those 2 hour shifts, however gonna change and do half hour lunches on the weekends I work instead because then I'll have 2 whole days off. Instead of 1 day and 6 hours.
Okay, I know, I'm boring.
We watched Magic Mike tonight.
It was...interesting.
Didn't get all the way through it, but I do like the guys in it - Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, etc.
Pretty sure his house is haunted though cause during the movie his pop like exploded all over the place.
So apparently the house is not a fan of exotic male dancing.
Which is fine with me.
And that's really I got for today.
Mad World - Gary Jules
I know some people prefer the original Tears for Fears version but I like this one much better.
Lyrics match up better with the tempo on this one than the funki-fied T4Fs version.
Plus the video is cooler.

maybe it was memphis.
I hate it when creepers make up excuses to talk to me at the desk.
Though tonight's actually rather amusing because he had really bad timing.
Meaning Wordie and Queen of the Known Universe were there.
He looked around my age - anyway, comes up to the desk and goes, "how long have you lived her."
and of course I'm not gonna answer that so I ask why.
He claims that he just moved to the area and he wants to know where to meet new people.
Since I'm boring and don't go places I don't know the answer to that question so I turn to Wordie and ask, "Hey Wordie, what's a good place to meet people?"
and the look on the dude's face was hysterical. He went from all flirty to "aw crap."
Like he wasn't actually looking for an answer to that question but now he's stuck at the desk listening to people list off possible places.
Me not being one of them.
Queen of the Known Universe made it a point to say, "but you have an out-of-town boyfriend" letting him know that I'm not on the market - it was humorous.
So that was the highlight of the day.
I honestly don't know how the day flew by that fast. I did a wellness survey in the morning, used the copier and guillotine in the afternoon and worked on the desk in between.
After work the boyfriend came up. We watched The Voice.
I know, isn't he sweet.
Aaannd as I hoped, tonight's was much better than last nights. Blake's country team rocks and Shakira's got Sasha so she'll be in for the finals.
All 16 of the artists have performed the votes will be counted and then tomorrow night is the results show. Two artists from each team with the most votes stay and then the coach gets to save one other but the 4th goes home leading us into next week's top 12 performances.
After that I think they're going back to the competition as a whole like last year so anyone can go home regardless of team.
I think, at least.
I liked that last year. It didn't matter who's team you were on. Before the top four were always one member from each team but you lose quality singers because too many good ones were on one team.
Thought last year there were a lot more singers as well cause they went from 12 on each team to 16....now they're back to 12 that was far too many.
Alright, enough with the ramblings, on to the music.
Here are my favorites from tonight.
Maybe It Was Memphis - Danielle Bradbery
Shakira said it best, "holy crap."
I haven't heard this song in like a decade. Back when I still actually listened to country music.
But that's also back when there was actual country music to be listened to.
Oh Darling - Sasha Allen
Hard to top Juliet Simms' cover from season two but this definitely comes close.
so this next one wasn't as fantastic as these previous two but i feel i must post it because it's a family thing.
Meet In The Middle - Justin Rivers
and since apparently you find my family stories amusing here's another.
although i'm pretty sure I've posted it on here already.
Our family changes the words to songs frequently but this is the most famous.
anyway, so the refrain that they sing goes like this:
I'd start walking your way,
You'd start walking mine.
We'd meet in the middle
'Neath that old Georgia pine.
We'd gain a lot of ground
Cause we'd both give a little.
Ain't no road too long
When you meet in the middle.
but our version goes like this:
I start walking your way,
You sit on the couch.
We meet in the middle
Because I'm such a grouch.
We gain a lot of ground,
Cause we both eat a little.
You are the queen,
But I'm, I'm just little.
except when Second Sister sang it she sings:
You start walking my way,
I sit on the couch.
We meet in the middle
Because you're such a grouch
We gain a lot of ground,
Cause we both eat a little.
I am the queen,
But you, you're just little.
and points at me.
thanks for that btw.
My guess for tomorrow's results are:
For Adam - Amber Carrington and Sarah Simmons will be saved and that Adam will save Judith Hill sending Caroline home - which would suck cause i love her.
For Blake - Danielle will definitely be safe, along with Holly I'm hoping. He'll probably save the Swon Brothers sending Justin home.
For Shakira - Sasha is safe, no question along with probably Karina, I'm hoping at least. She'll save Garrett.
And then Usher - no question that Michelle is safe but the rest is a complete toss-up. I'm thinking VEDO will be safe and he'll save Josiah. Even though he completely sucked and Cathia is much better.
Enough about that, DID YOU WATCH SPLASH?!
okay *spoiler alert* but dude, did you see Nicole land on her back?! that had to hurt.
I picked Rory and Drake from the start so I'm glad they finished 1,3 and Nicole definitely deserved to make it to the finals, she was a major surprise.
And it was ironic that she needed saving by the lifeguards with those big red floatie things since the role everything knows her from is Baywatch where she played a lifeguard and saved people with those big red floatie things.
Drake turned into kind of a jerk toward the end of the season so I'm glad Rory pulled it off and got the trophy. It was cool to see all the stars come back and dive again.
As dumb as this concept is I'm still hoping for a second season.
Cause it's surprisingly addicting.
And I'm curious as to who would be brave enough after seeing all these injuries to join it for a second season.
Alright, I'm gonna crash. Already midnight and I'm attempting to stop going to bed at 2 cause it's messing with my head.

as refreshing as tangerine ice cream.
Here's my day in a nutshell:

They are rocks.
Tied together so they don't escape.
No, they're supposed to be decorative rock things that hang from our "Our Volunteers Rock" bulletin board.
Of which Superwoman and I created.
Sort of.
It's a cool idea, however, what people don't get is that I'm not crafty.
Never have been.
Like literally, I can MacGyver stuff with paperclips and quarters but I'm not arts and crafty.
Yes, I can write - no not the blog, the blog is fluff - but like visual representations of stuff like drawing and painting and sculpting I can't do.
It's just not my forte.
So being put in charge of a bulletin board is harder than one would think.
Superwoman came up with the design then put me in charge of hanging up the background while she went to cut out the letters.
Twenty minutes later - after I had stabbed myself twice and rambled loudly enough about my failures to attract someone up from Virtual Services to check on me and attempt to help - it still kept falling off.
I cut the paper long enough, but that was the only thing working in my favor.
The tape rebelled, the paper wasn't even, it was ripping at the sides, and it was super light so you could see the tape beneath.
And I was bleeding so I had to get bandaids.
Technically not my fault, someone left a pin attached the board so when I was smoothing down the paper my hand ran across it stabbing my finger.
Though I guess I can't say that about the second time - same pin, different finger.
So I came home with 3 bandaids - already having one on my thumb for the majority of the day.
Did I mention I'm not crafty?
And am a bit clumsy?
Anyway, so she came up and helped hang the paper and then we had these graphics that I had to staple to the bulletin board but like I said, I'm clumsy, and I'm sure the stapler has it out for me so none of them were stapled completely right, like the staples were crooked and barely in.
So then she put me in charge of the rocks. She gave me string and lots of rocks and told me to tie them together so I took them up with me to the lab - cause at that point it had taken longer than the scheduled hour to finish the display - so Queen of the Known Universe and I attempted to tie rocks to other rocks in a decorative manner.
As previously mentioned, my arts and crafts skills are lacking, and apparently QotKU is quite adept at wrapping packages and if you get that cross-ribbon approach down you'll be able to wrap rocks in a way that they'll stay in the string when you move on to the next one in the line.
For me, however, see I blame my bad present-wrapping on my cat cause he likes to lay on the wrapping paper whilst I am attempting to wrap, but really, I just suck.
Sh.
Anyway, so my rocks kept coming out of the strings so basically I think I tied like 2 rocks to each other and the rest QotKU finished.
They have yet to be hung.
I'm thinking that's going to be another challenge with this bulletin board as they are heavy and I don't think tape or staples will hold them for long.
Anyway, so this failed experience just reminded me of the last bulletin board I was put in charge of - this one was at the home branch back when we had a bulletin board instead of wiring stuff hanging from the ceiling.
But they were kids' artwork pieces and we were supposed to arrange them on the board and hang them up.
Behind the PACs which meant I had about a foot of space to work with.
Which would have been okay if my cat hadn't have bit me on the arm the night before.
He got the muscle so my entire arm was basically numb for the entire day.
So it was dead.
You should have seen it, not only am I behind the PACs with a dead arm, but I'm also on a step-stool so basically I used my dead arm to hold up the picture - well, leaned against the wall with it between my arm and the board. And then with my right hand I held the stapler and since I couldn't staple with my left it was like I basically took the stapler in my right hand and smashed it against the wall repeatedly until something stapled.
Loud, and ridiculous, but surprisingly effective!
So that was the highlight of my day.
I sat down for maybe like an hour total the whole day.
Lots of volunteers coming in and out and was constantly starting them on projects and then running supplies. And getting people new cards - big huge tour came through and half had fines to pay.
Oh and one of my favorite classmates stopped by, we talked for a bit about the joys of grad school.
It's cool to meet fellow Mizzou-ers that live in the area.
I know, it's like a personality disorder.
I was a lion, then a knight, then a bulldog and now I'm a tiger?
So that was my workday.
After which I came home, read more of Silver Linings Playbook, which I did during lunch and both of my breaks during the day.
Quote of the Day:
Waitress to Tiffany after she swears up a storm: "Hey sister sailor-mouth"
And then watched The Voice.
Red = Adam
Green = Blake
Blue = Usher
Purple = Shakira
One epic battle really, the rest were alright. Not too surprising on who won.
Put Your Records On - Danielle Bradbery vs. Caroline Glaser
"but i want a big loaf of that..."
Okay, so I had Danielle on my top 20 but not high enough apparently.
She's crazy good and she's only 16.
It took me forever to figure it out, but it's Leanne Rimes!! That's who Danielle sounds like.
Drove me nuts for hours.
Granted I still like Caroline better (age 18) and I'm glad that Adam stole her.
and it amuses me that at the very end you can see adam holding his hand over the button ready to steal her.
No one wants to join Usher's team. Every time he tries to steal someone they go with the other coach.
But he's a hard ass, have you watched his coaching clips?
Kind of a jerk, don't blame them.
Plus Adam vs. Usher?
Seriously?
Gotta go with Adam, 24/7.
legitimate pre-midnight post, barely. holy crap tag in use.
and check this one: having fun during some downtime during their battle

Here's my top twenty for season four including the changes:
Red = Adam
Green = Blake
Blue = Usher
Purple = Shakira
Judith Hill - Adam, defeated Karina
Jess Kellner - Usher, defeated Taylor
Midas Whale - Adam
Caroline Glaser - lost battle, stolen by Adam
Monique Abbadie - Shakira
Sasha Allen - lost battle, stolen by Shakira
Michelle Chamuel - Usher
Sarah Simmons - Adam
Christian Porter - Blake, eliminated during battles
Jessica Childress - Usher
Jeff Lewis - Usher, lost battle to Josiah
Jacqui Sandell - Blake
Karina Iglesius - lost in battle, stolen by Shakira
Holly Tucker - Blake, defeated Michelle
Garrett Gardner - Shakira, defeated J'Sun
Danielle Bradbery - Blake, defeated Caroline
Amber Carrington - Adam, defeated Sasha
Savannah Berry - Blake
Josiah Hawley - Usher, defeated Jeff
Audrey Karrasch - Usher, defeated Jamila

"Your beard is so fat not even Dora can explore it."
Oh my god, I'm not allowed to get hooked on Duck Dynasty.
It's ridiculous.
Stupid marathons.
I didn't even turn it on, the channel was already on.
I meant to turn the TV on in the background - silence drives me nuts - but then I hear "There's a bearded man starting a fire in his yard, what are we gonna do?"
Not allowed.
Stupid marathons.
Headphones going back in both ears.
We actually had this conversation in class.
Well, on a discussion board for class.
Apparently I'm not the only one who does their homework with earbuds in for music and the TV on in the background.
Generational thing.
So today was pretty good.
Got to spend the majority of it with the Glee-Loving Boss at the home branch. We jammed.
Super busy morning. Mostly because there's only ever two of us and he did two storytimes and left for a lunch so I was alone at the desk for like 3 hours.
Not. Boring.
So 9-3 there, then back to the work branch for the rest of the day. Had a lot of my list of things to do once there but got to none of them because we were swamped there too. I was there for 3 hours and got 20-something stats in 2 of them alone.
After work the boyfriend came up. We watched Splash - to see Suh get eliminated - and then Rock of Ages.
Not bad.
Catherine Zeta-Jones was my favorite.
Of course, I know, big surprise there.
Can't believe that was Tom Cruise.
It didn't seem like him at all. Maybe it was the long hair that threw me off.
Scale of Awesome rates it at about 7/10.
Now they're telling beard jokes.
Apparently they're worse than your-mama jokes.
"Your beard is so fat not even Dora can explore it."
"Your beard is so stupid it took it two hours to watch 60 minutes."
"Your beard is so dumb it sits on the TV and watches the couch."
Okay, nothing good can come of this. I'm gonna give you music and then I'm gonna crash.
Back to regular work tomorrow.
More Voice Audition Rec's.
Can't Help Falling In Love With You - Jess Kellner
battle of the newbies.
Sunday Morning - Josiah Hawley
love blake's hair.
Mean - Danielle Bradbery
"are you bribing her with justin bieber tickets?!"
"nashville is a state." "one of the sixty states!"
Boyfriend - Vedo
"i'm gonna go cry with her."
out!
