"What are you going to type into Google, 'what's a smart-sounding word for nose hair?'"

So, I probably should have stayed late at work tonight to help out with the exhibition. Especially since I trained half the staff on the book. And can spout it front to back. Which is why it drives me nuts that the artwork on the displays is out of order, but that's another story.

But I came home instead because I have class tomorrow and I needed to finish up some homework before I crash and burn EARLY.

Cause I leave the apartment at 6:30 tomorrow morning. Which bites the big one, but it'll be okay. I think I'm eating with Smo after class and then there's the game.

Get to scream loud at the TV.

I hope they will be good screams, but you never know about underdogs.

Anyway, it's my last official Info Tech class tomorrow cause we're not meeting in December. And my teacher won't be there so we have a sub, bummer. But I still gotta be there early all coherent or fake coherent anyway.

Can you fake coherency?

I feel like I do that all the time.

Anyway, so yesterday sucked. Hence the no post. I've found it's better not to post if you have no positive things to talk about. And I really didn't.

Except the phone conversation I had with Sketch as we, well she, watched the CMA awards. I was mostly cleaning, doing laundry, making supper, doing homework, etc but it was on in the background.

Sketch is like country to the bone.

If that was a thing.

So she knows all the singers and the songs and all that. And usually I'm pretty good about this stuff but apparently I'm super behind on new country artists. Even after the conversation I was texting her, "who's that dude? is he really this bad or just live?"

He's knew I'm sure he'll get better.

But I love Blake and Miranda so I was excited that they won.

"and reba, cause she's sitting there looking at me..."

I was surprised that Taylor didn't win for the third year especially since RED is so huge and all that. Next year.

I was amused that it was her and like 5 dudes up as nominees. She rocks it.

Sketch is not a fan.

So I texted her when she got a standing ovation after her performance.

She was not amused.

Anyway, so that was really all from yesterday that I'm going to repeat. Today was much better.

Remember the artwork project thing that I had with my teens a couple weeks ago where we made posters and bookmarks and all that?

Today I had the pleasure of laminating - well, watching as Kathy laminated - all of the bookmarks and then got to cut each of them out - that was all me.

And there were like 50 so that was fun.

But the kids are excited about them and they all want their own so I had to make copies and whatever. Anyway, on one of them is this list of smart sounding words.

Which is really my fault cause there are four on a sheet and I'm not artistic - ask Sketch - so I was like, "what are some smart sounding words?" and they yelled a bunch out.

I gotta say, those teens make me look like an idiot.

And it's not just me.

I showed the bookmarks to a few of my bosses, they totally had to get on Google to figure out what half of the words meant.

One supervisor in particular *cough*Superwoman*cough* was dead set that this one word meant nose hair but it was actually like the smell of rain on the ground or I don't remember, something about rain. I'll look it up later.

But she thought it meant nose hair so that meant that there must be a similar word in existence that meant nose hair so she got on Google and I was like, "what are you going to type into Google? 'what's a smart sounding word for nose hair?!'"

Anyway, they attempted to guess the other words and were way off as well.

I mean, we got pantophobia from Charlie Brown, but the rest of them were like, um, maybe I should have looked these up before writing and then laminating them.

Didn't want to put anything inappropriate out there.

Not that they would cause they're good teens.

So that was amusing.

And really that was the highlight of the day, aside getting a comic from the Library Judge - formerly known as John Boy - because he creates them, every 20 years or so, and got them in the mail today. So I bought one cause he gave me the first one for free last year.

Gave him a dollar donation for his cause.

So that was my day in a nutshell.

Well, that and 9 hours of public service work.

But tomorrow I'm off - for class so it's not really off - and then Sunday I'm off - for class so it's not really off - so I'm not officially back at work until Monday morning so I had to send out all my email reminders before I left.

Got a TAB meeting next week and a bunch of new volunteers coming in for training. Should be interesting.

Alright, I'm out early.

Yes, it is actually pre-10:30 and a holy crap tag will be used. But did I mention I have to leave my apartment at 6:30 tomorrow?

For some of you readers I'm sure you think that 6:30 is sleeping in but let me tell you, 6:30? Definitely not sleeping in.

To me at least.

That's like super early and I need like 5 gallons of coffee to keep both eyes awake on the interstate.

Which is weird, because the middle of the night I can drive anywhere perfectly awake. It's the mornings that suck.

Oh well, I've got Carrie Fisher.

Not like actual human, breathing Carrie Fisher, but audio Carrie Fisher.

Listening to Shockaholic. I figured I liked Wishful Drinking so I should give this one a shot.

She's highly entertaining.

Know what else is highly entertaining?

Sleep.

Which I will do soon after this post.

But first I gotta find some music.

Not sure what to post.

Ipod on shuffle..........drumroll

Turning Japanese - The Vapors

do people avoid him like a "cyclone ranger" or a "psyched lone ranger"?

this song reminds me of Charlie's Angels.

OH, apparently BossLady loves The Mummy.

sorry, two of my favorites. Apparently it was her go to sleep at night movie.

I told her it was mine as well.

My mother is still tired of it 10 years later and says, "again?" whenever she catches me watching it.

Sadly I can quote that back to front as well.

Along with its sequel.

Literally.

(but not the third cause it's awful and i refuse to watch it. i've seen it twice and that's enough. ask sketch about the voicemail i left her immediately following.)

Like, at one point in The Mummy Returns Rachel Weisz waves this torch back and forth so many times in a row cause she's exiting a dream sequence and I can do it with my hand in the same pattern and exact same times as she does it without even turning on the TV.

funny story?

.....

So can BossLady.

We totally did it at the desk today.

Did I mention my bosses are cooler than your bosses?

OH! and another thing, okay maybe this will be another fake 11:50 post, apparently one of our crazy patrons is actually a crazy psychokiller.

Which just makes our life that more exciting.

More on that later.

OH RIGHT! So, I finally am tied with my mother on the point system at 150. Superwoman gave Mom 150 points cause she sent an email with an attachment.

After I taught her how to do it.

Because she gave Space Cadet 150 points for doing it earlier.

After I taught HER how to do it.

I think she thinks that giving them points will motivate me to like do stuff to get points like be professional and all that.

Blah, what a mean boss. Making me actually earn something with work.

I need to shutup or I won't stop.

This is what happens when I skip a day.

so come and get it.

Carter is mad at me.

I'm not sure what I did to incur his wrath but he won't shutup.

I wonder what he does while I'm gone.

I know he's always waiting for me meowing at the door when I get home.

I'm sure my neighbors love him.

This is Carter in a nutshell.

no wait, this is carter in a nutshell.

pretty much every night. minus the bat.

You can blame these on my coworker's kid, she was the one to introduce me to them. We jammed out all afternoon - my TAB kids came in and made bookmarks, signs, banners and all that to hang up in the YA area.

She's a great artist so if there was a contest she would have dominated.

The bookmarks were a big hit. Apparently teens are into glitter. Who'd have known. Not sure that I was really that into but that was quite a while ago so maybe I'm blocking out my glitter fascination because it's tied to a specific memory.

I guess this goes on the "Boy, was I wrong" list, right above gauchos but just below the Flashdance phrase.

Haven't quoted Lorelai in a while, must be off my game.

So worked in the morning, jammed with the teens designing some cool looking bookmarks all afternoon. Literally all afternoon they were here 1-5. And then it took forever to take down to poor Info-Man basically had to close by himself.

After work I came back and did homework. Finished my paper due Friday and posted it. It's nice to know I can still pound out a major assignment in just a few hours. So I'm done for the week aside from discussion boards and then this weekend I'll attempt to work on stuff that's due next week but since it's my first weekend off in forever we all know that's not gonna happen.

I just needed to get it all done before conference on Thursday/Friday.

Or should I say nerd convention? More on that later.

I'm shocked but of course the boyfriend is off on vacation so no real plans which means I get to go to the farm. Woohoo! And get my tire pressure sensor fixed! I'm hoping, anyway. I think that thing breaks every few months, this is at least the third time it's happened. Gonna have to start keeping track of which tire it is.

More Voice battles tonight. Mycle and Michelle both survived. I'm starting to like Liz Davis as well, she's pretty good. Shocked by Xtina's steal, was not expecting that. The problem with more singers is that they don't show all of the battles. So like Celica, Michelle and Mycle's weren't aired even though they're great. They just showed the highlight reel and then the coach's pick.

Song of the night:

love 1:23-33 seems so much older than 25. just something about the voice. but it just sounds like she should be on the radio. you know? actual legitimate country voice, awesomeness.

Alright, I'm out for the night. The teens tire me out even though I was just sitting all afternoon drawing. They've got a lot of energy. Yikes.

OUT!

i can't live without you tell me what am i supposed to do about it...

Fearless Leader made a guest appearance today.

I pretty much tackled her.

But we miss her around these parts.

Sadly I talked to her for like 5 seconds before I had to present the Curious George stuff - again! - you'd think I'd have it memorized by now.

Ha, right.

Scroll down a few posts and you'll get what I'm talking about.

They were putting up the panels for the displays as I was leaving. Should be all ready by opening tomorrow, woohoo!

Day flew by fairly quickly, checked in six carts in an hour, updated the TAB website, OH! sent them a challenge...

It's Teen Read Week - oh yeah, happy teen week read, btw oh and last week was banned books week, i totally sent a letter to my former children's lit professor as we have become pen pals - and we have this site that the awesomeness that is Info-Man has created that houses reviews and booklists and links - it's the one site I submitted my Hunger Games and The Help booklists to. Anyway, there's a staff review section to it that I contribute to, though not lately, my bad, but there's also a customer review section as well. Let me know if you're interested I'll send you the link.

Anyway, Info-Man was saying how he got all these great customer reviews from one of the other library's teen volunteers so since it is Teen Read Week I sent out an email to my TAB kids with a competition to see who could post the most reviews by the end of the week.

They don't have to read/watch/listen to the stuff this week, they just have to have read/watched/listened to it in the past and make sure it's in the collection for it to count.

We'll see if anyone participates, but I there will be a prize for the winner.

Though I'm guessing I already know who that will be.

But we'll see, I'm constantly surprised by these kids.

I'm hoping I will be tomorrow as well. We're doing out artwork project day - well, afternoon, literally. They're coming in 1-5, well I'll be there 1-5 they can show up whenever and leave whenever - but we're going to be making artwork to decorate the Young Adult area as it has white walls and is very blah-ish.

So we'll design some new signage, color some posters to hang around - I'm thinking of like having them draw out their favorite scenes or do some cool calligraphy of classic quotes or something so it's all literature-related - and then make up some cool bookmarks to have laminated and cut out.

We gotta spice the place up a bit as it is like the only wall in the building not colored.

So we'll see who shows up. I basically have it 1-5 because it's their day off and half of them could make it before 3 and the other half couldn't make it until after 3. But like I said, they're teens so we'll see if they're actually interested and want to take part or if they're feigning interest and would rather sleep or something.

Not that I'd blame them, it is their day off and sleep is pretty awesome.

I mean, I'd rather be sleeping.

Right now I mean, not then.

I'm excited for then, right now I'm toast but I gotta shower and do homework before I can go to bed.

It's only 11, I got time. As long as I'm out by 1 I'm usually pretty good the next day. Any later than that and things can get questionable.

I would have started earlier except you know The Voice and Castle were on, and I can't focus with them on in the background. Other shows I can pull that off.

The battles weren't like super exciting tonight. I mean, they were okay, but nothing as spectacular as Trevin Hunte vs Amanda Brown. That was awesome and I'm glad she got saved.

Scroll down a few, I posted it at some point this past week.

Though I'm guessing no future ones will really be even close to that one.

Or maybe they will, I mean almost half of my top 20 still has yet to battle and the only two I've lost are Nelly's Echo and 2Steel Girls.

I think I need a new vacuum. The big one that I have doesn't work properly though that's probably because I don't have any replacement bags, and then the smaller one works but the battery constantly needs charging.

I attempted to clean tonight after work but the motivation didn't last long when the vacuums weren't working.  Will work on that more later. Think tomorrow is date night with the boyfriend, either that or Wednesday night, it has yet to be decided. The night that's not date night will be homework night and if it's Wednesday night it's gonna have to end early cause I gotta be up and an hour away by 8AM the next morning for NLA.

And you all know how much of a morning person I am.

Will have to google directions on how to get there and all that since I don't know where I'm going.

Alright, song of the day:

Disease - Matchbox Twenty
love this video.

sorry, rob thomas is cee-lo's guest adviser this season so it's stuck in my head.

though this version is pretty great as well:

Phillip Phillips aka the newest American Idol performs live with guest guitarist

love the solos at the end. sweet.

whoa. a legitimate pre-midnight post. i'm in shock.

feel like i should wait fifteen minutes and then post it.

nah.

Rock, Chalk, SilverHawk

Went to watch Squirt play some volleyball tonight with my sisters.

She dominated, got some killer spikes and all that. Would have made Juwanna proud.

That was pretty much the highlight of the day, jamming with the family.

Not much happened during the day aside from the TAB meeting.

Which was not my favorite of meetings.

I like the kids, they're great, but it's a little difficult to keep some of them on task.

Especially the newer, younger ones.

And it tends to annoy the older ones.

So I'm trying to be understanding, but my new motto is if the story you're raising your hand to tell us has nothing to do with the meeting at hand it can wait until later.

We mostly talked over our art project that will take place on this upcoming Tuesday. We'll be decorating our young adult area with some cool homemade posters and bookmarks and all that. I'm excited, and they seemed excited, I think.

But they're teenagers, maybe they think it's totally lame and are humoring me.

I think making bookmarks would be fun. Got lots of cardstock stuff, will get them to do their own homemade designs, then laminate and cut them out. Just create like a stockpile of them in the YA are for people to use.

But again, they're teenagers, perhaps they think doing that and painting/sketching/etc posterboard and hanging it up is lame.

Guess we'll find out on Tuesday.

It was just one of those meetings, you know?

I don't know, maybe it was an off day for me or them or whatever, it just was weird. So I let them out like 10 minutes early after touring the YA area and the basement when I showed them our stock of supplies.

So the game helped, had a lot of fun and cheered loud.

Was amused that Oldest Sister and the King of Useless Knowledge - aka my eldest brother in law - were the loudest parents there.

After the game I bought some popcorn from my nephew - woohoo for fundraisers - and came home to watch The Voice. Some cool battle rounds tonight, all of my favorites that battled survived aka Aquile, Melanie and Celica.

Think I'm up to 10,11,12 in videos so that puts me with Collin, Terisa and Suzanna - all on Team Blake now that Collin got saved after a battle elimination against Bryan Keith.

Wild World - Collin McLoughlin
first one i bought off itunes this season, awesome cover

Someone Like You - Terisa Griffin
my favorite blake moment of the season, gotta watch this one, she's hysterical
"just punch me in the face and get it over with"

Landslide - Suzanna Choffel
reminds me a bit of juliet simms
she's great. no smoke and mirrors here.

Out for the night.

Maybe some sleep with knock me back from this off-ness.
